  9. KQED Learning Link is an electronic information and communication
  10. service provided by public television station KQED in San Francisco, in
  11. partnership with the Science Education Academy of the Bay Area (SEABA),
  12. and Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development.
  13.  
  14. By facilitating communication between and among education professionals,
  15. KQED Learning Link helps teachers:
  16.  
  17. * make better use of educational technologies such as computers and
  18.   television;
  19.  
  20. * locate available resources, including online databases, professional
  21.   development opportunities, classroom lessons and activities and news
  22.   related to public broadcasting;
  23.  
  24. * learn how to integrate technology resources into the curriculum and
  25.   implement them in the classroom;
  26.  
  27. * network with other educators for enrichment, lesson planning and
  28.   curriculum sharing;
  29.  
  30. * develop classroom projects with other schools.
  31.  
  32. In the near future, KQED Learning Link will offer a Student Service that
  33. offers classrooms and individual students the opportunity to exchange
  34. messages via electronic mail, discussion groups and bulletin boards.
  35. Also, the Student Service will contain resources for students such as a
  36. database of colleges and universities, science clubs and activities and
  37. local cultural arts opportunities.

  39. KQED Learning Link is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You
  40. can access KQED Learning Link from any personal computer equipped with
  41. communications software and a modem connected to a telephone line. End
  42. users may dial directly to KQED Learning Link or access the service from
  43. CORE-California Online Resources for Education. More information on CORE
  44. can be obtained from the California Technology Project at
  45. 1-800-272-8743.
